KVK Foundation

KVK Foundation is the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the KVK Energy & Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. The foundation believes corporate social responsibility is a way of life and enhances the quality of life which goes beyond sponsoring a few causes; reflected by the activities pursued. The key areas which KVK foundation focuses includes housing, education for the underprivileged, health programs, community programs and other social activities.

The KVK Foundation is administered by a Board of Trustees, chaired by Mr. Balaram Raju. The other members of the Board include Mr. K Vijaya Kumar - Chairman and Managing director of KVK Energy & Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., Mrs. Subhadra and Mr. Verghese Jacob


Ashwini Project

Project ASHWINI aims to facilitate usage of ICT applications through a virtual delivery platform to the masses in the underdeveloped villages and enable them to make well informed decisions. It helps empower them with 24x7 connectivity using state-of-the-art technology to provide access to a wide range of high quality services.

Ashwini provides urban services in rural areas using a broadband wireless network connecting 20 village centres in East and West Godavari Districts. These initiatives have helped in realising the Digital Inclusion of rural India.

The digital inclusion of Ashwini platform enables the delivery of high quality services in e-Learning, e-Governance, e-Medicine, e-Health and e-Education to the rural areas. The services currently being delivered by Ashwini project includes:

  • Classes on Mathematics, Physics and chemistry for students
  • Computer literacy classes to telemedicine (from Hyderabad, New York and Eluru),
  • Women livelihood programs like embroidery and sari painting to crop advisory services etc
  • Personality development and counselling
  • Multi-site video conferencing is also used effectively on this network to facilitate interaction between domain experts and villagers
  • Virtual Lab program for high school students

The revenue model devised for the project has been generating returns thus enabling us to work towards achieving sustainability


Social and Welfare Activities

Podagatlapalli Village Development Trust had been formed and formally launched on the 26th January 2002 for the people of Podagatalapally, a remote village in Konaseema in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

To enrich the village community life, the Trust in conjunction with various state and central government schemes for rural development and in collaboration with Private charitable institutions along with active participation by the villagers themselves, conceived a comprehensive development program encompassing the vital areas of Primary Health, Education, Sanitation, Safe water supply, Drainage, Roads and Environmental Protection.

Some of the activities undertaken are as under:

Primary Health

A well equipped primary health centre funded by the Trust was commissioned to provide basic health care to patients with the help of Satyam Foundations, a Private Charitable Organization.

Sanitation

Provision of private toilet facility for each individual hut/ house and facility for drainage of rain water and used water from common facilities like the village well or tank is underway.

Water Supply

The job of cleaning up of the village tank, the main source of drinking water for the villagers, and protecting it with proper bunds and green trees around it has been taken up. Pipelines for supply of safe drinking water to individual houses are also being laid.

Education

Construction of modern primary school building and up gradation of the existing secondary school into a Junior College for 300 students.

Village Roads

Construction of Pucca roads and provision for street lighting, mainly in the least developed habitations in the village, has been taken up.


Blood Donation Camp

KVK Foundation and Aarohi an NGO working towards promoting Health and Education in the society conducted a Blood Donation Camp at the corporate office on the 16th July 2011.

Aarohi Blood Bank is started by a group of Doctors and Aarohi, an NGO working towards promoting Health and Education in the society. KVK Foundation and Aarohi Blood Bank aims to bring about an awareness of the importance of Blood Donation. KVK Foundation and Aarohi are committed to bring about a consciousness in the society to children suffering from Thalassemia which is a preventable disease.
